The Life and Death of Ricky Rodriguez 'Most commonly known as "Davidito" to Family members and "Rick" or "Ricky" to ex-members. Rick was the son of Karen Zerby (Mama Maria) and a Spanish hotel clerk. He was considered to be the adopted son of David Berg, though no legal adoption took place. A childcare manual published by the group in January of 1982 vividly describes, with photographs, the sexual activity that took place between Rick and his governesses, particularly Sara (also known as Sara Davidito, Sara Kelley, or Prisca Kelley; she later became a top leader in the organization). This 700-page manual, and other group publications seemed to approve of and encourage child sexual abuse and incest. Rick left the group in 2000. In time he became a vocal critic of The Family expressing highly negative comments regarding his upbringing on this website and others. On January 8, 2005 it is alleged that Rick stabbed to death a former Nanny, Angela Smith in Tucson, Arizona. He then drove to Blythe, California where it is believed that he took his own life.
